2020 Match Procedures

Because of our new home, we're going to have a few changes as to how matches are conducted.  Furthermore, there could be some additional changes during the year.

First, the obvious and easy changes:

1. The west gate at SBRC will be opened (by me) by 7:30 on match day.  You don't have to be there any earlier.   7:30-7:45 is good. Parking is limited--you will want to move your vehicle far west on the parking area.

2. We will have a formal registration period to collect match fees.  OOS members do not pay fees for their first match of the day.  If you shoot a second match, you will owe $7.

3. You will have an assigned relay.  You may request your relay, but there are no guarantees because,

4.  there are 8 firing points.  We will have a clearly marked firing line in front of the benches.

5. We will usually have 3 relays.  If there is need for a 4th, we will run it.

6. We will squad for relays 3 and 4 after relays 1 and 2 have finished.

And then,

7.  If attendance gets large (I wish) we will formally announce that  competitors will  be welcome to arrive later in  the day to squad for relays 3 and 4.  Please note that we are not doing this right now...this is a pre-announcement of a contingency plan in case we continually need a 4th relay.  In that case there's no point in folks arriving at 7:30 to shoot at 11:30.  We'll see.

  • Are we gonna try to have a workday before the first match on Feb 22nd? I was thinking the 15th of February maybe, weather permitting? Due to a work commitment, I wont be there on the 22nd.
  • Probably not, but if necessary I'll give only a  24 hour warning; I need to check on materials first, and there really won't be much to do.  I've got number boards made (just have to check on my attachment method, and that takes a trip to the range, and weather has been awful), a little work on the target frames and we'll be ready.  So I don't think there's much that I can't do on my spare time or with an hour of help some afternoon or morning.
